Sheikh Abdullah honors national team champions: Investing in young talent is a cornerstone for building a promising future for sports

His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah, Prime Minister, affirmed that the achievements of the heroes and heroines of the national teams represent a source of pride and honor, reflecting the spirit of determination and resolve that characterizes Kuwaiti youth, and highlighting their distinguished efforts in representing their country and raising its name and flag at various international sporting events.
This statement came during a press briefing by the Prime Minister following a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of State for Youth and Sports Affairs at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center on the evening of the day before yesterday, to honor national team athletes from the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 sports seasons. The event honored 771 athletes from 39 sports entities, attended by Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, Chairwoman of Salwa Sports Club Sheikhah Naima Al-Ahmad, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports Bishr Abdullah Al-Salem, Vice President of the Olympic Committee Sheikh Mubarak Faisal Al-Nawaf, Acting Deputy Director General of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports for Institutional Services Dr. Fatima Al-Salman, Sheikh Adib Nayer Al-Jaber, President of the 965 Motors Club, along with numerous sports federation and club presidents, committee heads, and senior officials from the Public Authority for Youth and Sports.
The Prime Minister stated that this recognition is a tribute to the significant efforts exerted by athletes, coaches, and administrative staff, which yielded results and achievements that elevated Kuwait’s name at regional and international sporting arenas. He emphasized that the government attaches great importance to Kuwaiti sports and is committed to providing a supportive environment that enables athletes to continue excelling and achieving further successes. He added that investing in young national talents constitutes a fundamental pillar for building a promising future for sports in Kuwait, expressing his pride and honor in the accomplishments of Kuwaitis who have secured these prestigious positions.
In his speech, Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma affirmed that the patronage and attendance of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah, Prime Minister, at the national ceremony honoring national team athletes exemplify the political leadership’s interest in youth and athletes, its commitment to supporting achievers, and its role as a major motivation for athletes. He noted that these actions underscore the prominent status of the sports sector in the national development process.
He stated that honoring our athletes is a recognition of their effort and dedication, and a message of pride in the achievements we all cherish. He reaffirmed the continued support for athletes and the provision of an appropriate environment that enables them to develop their capabilities and realize their aspirations, thereby enhancing Kuwait’s standing on the sporting stage. He emphasized that investing in national sports talent is one of the key pillars for developing the sports sector and fostering a culture of excellence and achievement.
He confirmed that the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, in collaboration with relevant entities, is committed to providing a suitable environment for cultivating champions and developing the sports system according to a comprehensive vision based on supporting talents and enhancing institutional performance, thereby contributing to further achievements and raising Kuwait’s flag in various sporting competitions.

For his part, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, Bashar Abdullah, stated in a similar address that the ceremony embodies the state’s commitment to honoring athletes with outstanding achievements, reflecting its dedication to fostering a culture of excellence and celebrating those who have raised Kuwait’s name at various international forums. He noted that the Public Authority for Youth and Sports continues to support athletes across all categories, providing an appropriate environment that enables them to achieve further successes. He added that the Authority is working to enhance competitive spirit among athletes, thereby contributing to improved performance and securing podium finishes at all regional and international competitions. He emphasized that the achievements of Kuwaiti athletes reflect the country’s wealth of promising talents and potential deserving of support and care, expressing confidence in Kuwaiti champions’ ability to continue their successes and uphold the national flag in various competitions.
