Al-Sahel and Al-Yarmouk: Top-of-the-table clash

Mubarak Al-Khalidi

Tomorrow, Saturday, will see the conclusion of the 14th round of the 2025-2026 season of the Zain League First Division, with four matches scheduled to kick off simultaneously at 8:30 p.m.

The Kuwait Football Association had previously decided to complete the remaining four rounds of the competition, which were suspended due to ongoing events in the region, in order to determine final standings, particularly those of the top two teams who will be promoted to the Premier League for the 2026-2027 season. This decision follows the board of directors of the Kuwait Football Association’s choice to increase the number of participating teams in the Premier League for the new season to 12 clubs. These will include the teams that competed in last season’s Zain Premier League, along with the first- and second-place finishers from the First Division.

Today’s fixtures feature a top-of-the-table clash, as league leaders Al-Sahel (29 points) travel to face runners-up Al-Yarmouk (29 points). Meanwhile, Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium will host another crucial match, with Al-Salmiya (third place, 28 points) hosting Al-Jazira (fourth place, 24 points).

At Nasser Al-Asimi Stadium, Khaitan (fifth place, 17 points) will face Al-Shamya (sixth place, 7 points). Finally, in a dead-rubber encounter, Burqan (14 points) will play against Sporty (0 points) at Al-Sahel Club’s ground.
