Basketball Youth to Face Oman in the Gulf Cup Tomorrow

Our national under-18 basketball team begins its journey in the Gulf Youth Championship, which serves as a qualifier for the Asian Cup finals, at 4:00 PM tomorrow Saturday, facing their Omani counterparts at the Al-Gharafa Club court in Qatar.

The Qatar Basketball Federation hosts the tournament from July 25 to 30, with five Gulf national teams competing for three direct berths to the continental finals: Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the Sultanate of Oman.

The youth squad prepared for the tournament by holding a two-week training camp in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, during which they played five friendly matches, including two against the national teams of Egypt and Jordan. The team is led by Serbian coach Marko Icelic and his assistant Yahiya Al-Bahr.

The national team is represented in the Gulf Championship by 12 players: Ali Al-Hindal, Adam and Amir Asadullah, Omar Murad, Ahmed Al-Rashid, Yousef Al-Ghanim, Ali Al-Salahi, Fareej Al-Fareej, Omar Al-Saleh, Abdullah Al-Jarid, Abdulrahman Al-Marzouq, and Musaed Al-Obeidi.
