Prime Minister attends and presides over the National Honoring Ceremony for National Team Athletes

Under the patronage and in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, the Ministry of State for Youth and Sports Affairs hosted the National Honoring Ceremony for national team athletes and athletes from the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 sports seasons at the Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center. His Highness the Prime Minister honored outstanding athletes from various Kuwaiti sports entities, committees, federations, and clubs.
In a press statement after the ceremony, His Highness emphasized that the achievements of national team champions serve as a source of pride and reflect the spirit of determination and resolve demonstrated by Kuwaiti youth, who make exceptional efforts to represent their country and raise its name and flag at various international sporting events. He stated that this recognition honors the significant efforts exerted by athletes, technical staff, and administrative personnel, which have yielded results and accomplishments that elevated Kuwait’s name at regional and international sporting arenas. His Highness affirmed that the government places great importance on Kuwaiti sports and is committed to providing a supportive environment that enables athletes to continue excelling and achieving further success.
He added that investing in young national talents constitutes a fundamental pillar for building a promising future for sports in Kuwait, expressing his pride and admiration for the achievements of Kuwaitis who have secured these high rankings.
For his part, Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma emphasized that the patronage and attendance of His Highness the Prime Minister at the National Honoring Ceremony for national team athletes from the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons embodies the political leadership’s interest in youth and athletes, and its commitment to supporting those who have achieved success.
This came during a speech delivered by Minister Al-Jalahma at the ceremony, which honored 771 athletes from 39 sports entities and was hosted by the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center on Wednesday, organized by the Public Authority for Youth and Sports.
He stated that this recognition conveys a message of appreciation and pride to every athlete who has exerted effort and achieved honorable accomplishments for the nation, emphasizing that investing in national sports talents is one of the key pillars for developing the sports sector and enhancing a culture of excellence and achievement. He affirmed that the Public Authority for Youth and Sports is continuing its cooperation with relevant authorities to provide a suitable environment for cultivating champions and developing the sports system according to a comprehensive vision based on supporting talents and improving institutional performance, thereby contributing to further achievements and raising Kuwait’s flag in various sporting competitions.
Dr. Al-Jalahma highly appreciated the patronage and attendance of His Highness the Prime Minister at the ceremony, noting that it serves as a major motivation for athletes and underscores the status enjoyed by the sports sector in the course of national development.
Supporting Athletes
For his part, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, Bishr Abdullah, stated in a similar address that the ceremony reflects the state’s interest in recognizing sports achievers and its commitment to consolidating a culture of excellence and honoring those who have elevated Kuwait’s name at various international platforms.
Abdullah said that the Public Authority for Youth and Sports continues to support athletes across all categories and provide a suitable environment that enables them to achieve further success. He added that the Authority is working to enhance competitive spirit among athletes, contributing to improved performance and reaching podium finishes at all regional and international events.
He noted that the achievements of Kuwaiti athletes reflect the country’s possession of promising talents and abilities deserving of support and care, expressing his confidence in Kuwaiti champions’ ability to continue their successes and raise the national flag in various competitions.
The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Chairperson of Salwa Al-Sabah Sports Club Board of Directors, along with several heads of federations, clubs, and sports committees, as well as senior officials from the Public Authority for Youth and Sports.
