Qatar welcomes Netherlands and Belgium ban on importing Israeli settlement products: a significant step supporting efforts to deter settlement occupation policies

The State of Qatar welcomed the ban imposed by the Netherlands and Belgium on the import of Israeli settlement products, regarding it as an important step that supports efforts to deter the occupation’s settlement policies, which constitute a blatant violation of international legal resolutions, particularly United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, and a clear infringement on the rights of the Palestinian people. In a statement on Wednesday, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar’s hope that more countries would take similar steps in this regard, while emphasizing the necessity for the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities to compel the occupation to halt its settlement policy in the occupied Palestinian territories. The ministry reaffirmed Qatar’s firm and consistent position supporting the Palestinian cause and the resilience of the brotherly Palestinian people, based on international legal resolutions and the two-state solution, which would ensure the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
