Wars and Their Tragedies
People are endowed with the knowledge to govern their reason among themselves, avoiding disputes and disagreements over the division of the world, its agricultural yields, and its wealth—ranging from sweet rivers, fertile soil, and countless cash crops to valuable mineral resources. Yet envy and greed often overpower many of them.
War remains perpetually ignited between nations, whether through words or actions. When envy, greed, and malice disappear, enmity vanishes; and when enmity, deceit, and jealousy cease, senseless and violent wars come to an end. This allows for the preservation of livelihoods, which come only through human effort, hard and arduous work, struggle, and diligent, sincere endeavor.
In the shadow of security, there is sustained production and comfortable consumption. Hardly anyone among them harbors an envious eye, a resentful heart, or a harmful hand. Wars, their flames, and their tyranny are rooted in misguidance, tribalism, selfishness, arrogance, whims, and stubbornness. This is the path to failure and destruction.
Among the advantages of our present era—the era of speed and machinery—is the inherent rapidity of machines. Those who fall behind the caravan of life are devoured by hunger and snatched by oblivion. Societies founded on guidance, truth, goodness, steadfastness in principle, skilled leadership, and the wisdom of perceptive leaders follow the path to success.
The machinery of war is destructive to the nations of the world and to civilizations whose foundations were laid by our ancestors. This machine shatters human masterpieces and can regress societies back to the ages of ignorance. There were once advanced peoples who were paragons of excellence in science, literature, philosophy, and art, but the flames of war reduced them to a hellish state, paralyzing their thinking and will.
War rages with intense heat and fire, potentially shocking the peaceful world with the horrors of evil and hell, manifested in thousands of images of destruction. With the swift speed that characterizes the genius and advantage of this era—aircraft, tanks, artificial intelligence, and digital technology—malice has intensified, and the competition of ambitions has grown.
Wars do not rely on the virtues of the soul or the characteristics of the spirit. Those who ignited this war have freed themselves from the bonds of religion, morality, law, custom, honor, and fidelity to pledges. The scourge of war is like a flood: its current sweeps away both green and dry land, its tyranny drowns the populous and the desolate alike, and it unleashes devastation upon matters of thought and spirit.
The brutal war represents the loss of what civilization has inherited: the sanctity of the lawful, noble morals, and the human legacy of ethics, culture, and systems. Walking the path of safety and consolidating patriotism by clinging to the land—even if it trembles, it will not be annihilated.
There are heroes working to defend this nation and its heritage. There are watchful eyes guarding it with utmost sincerity. To the front lines, you are brave soldiers who have demonstrated your courage and willingness to take risks in protecting the homeland. You have dedicated yourselves to sacrifice between life and death, through faith and determination, for your country—either as martyrs honored in the Hereafter or as heroes who bring pride to the world through your evident patriotism.
The enemy is like fire: if addressed at its inception, it is easy to extinguish. The courage, bravery, heroism, and daring possessed by security forces and military personnel have stood firm with strong hearts and steady nerves. We all know that war is a deception and caution is the rein of courage, while recklessness is the enemy of strength.
My country, Kuwait, rising through its progress, stands tall with its flourishing knowledge, whose banner flies high in the heavens.
