Kuwait: Iran’s aggressive behavior has reached unprecedented levels of escalation and deliberate disregard for international laws and charters

Our Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Nasser Al-Hin, renewed his strong condemnation of the continuous Iranian attacks and violations targeting the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, while simultaneously affirming the continuation of diplomatic efforts to counter this aggression.

This statement came in an interview Ambassador Al-Hin gave to KUNA following an emergency meeting held in Geneva for ambassadors and representatives of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, convened at Kuwait’s request to discuss the highly critical regional situation.

He emphasized that Iran’s aggressive behavior has reached unprecedented levels of escalation and deliberate disregard for international laws and charters, through the direct and intentional targeting of vital facilities and civilian infrastructure, particularly electricity generation and water desalination plants, which constitute the lifeline for the population. Such actions endanger the lives and safety of civilians and threaten regional stability.

Ambassador Al-Hin condemned this systematic targeting, affirming that it rises to the level of a blatant violation of all international norms and conventions.

He reiterated his full solidarity and united front with Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan in confronting the attacks and terrorist threats, while denouncing Iran’s direct role in supporting the Houthi militia with weapons, equipment, and military technology, which contributes to destabilizing the region’s security and stability and threatens regional peace and security.

He stressed that the security of the GCC countries and sister Arab states constitutes an indivisible whole, and that any infringement on their security and stability amounts to a direct attack on Gulf and Arab national security, necessitating a firm international stance that deters such attacks and puts an end to their continuation.

Ambassador Al-Hin added that the meeting comes within the framework of joint GCC coordination and consultation regarding the dangerous developments witnessed by the region, and as a manifestation of the unified GCC stance in the face of all threats to the security and stability of the Council’s member states.

He stressed that Iran’s aggressive behavior has reached unprecedented levels of escalation and deliberate disregard for international laws and covenants, through the direct and intentional targeting of vital facilities and civilian infrastructure, particularly electricity generation and water desalination plants, which represent the basic lifeline for the population. This exposes the lives and safety of civilians to danger and threatens regional stability.

Ambassador Al-Hin condemned this systematic targeting, affirming that it rises to the level of a blatant violation of all international norms and conventions, foremost among them the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols, which unequivocally prohibit targeting civilian objects and essential life-support systems, and criminalize endangering the lives of civilians and public safety.

He affirmed the continued diplomatic and legal efforts of Kuwait to confront this aggression, based on its legal and diplomatic record and the firm international resolutions issued by international organizations and bodies in Geneva, which have repeatedly condemned Iranian practices and documented their disregard for and non-compliance with international covenants and standards.

Ambassador Al-Hin pointed to key international resolutions reflecting the international stance on these violations, particularly the resolution issued by the Human Rights Council, which documented and condemned the systematic Iranian violations, repressive practices, and transgressions affecting fundamental human rights.

He also drew attention to the World Health Organization’s resolution, which condemned the targeting of medical facilities and services, their exploitation, and the negative impact of Iran’s dangerous behavior on the health safety system and regional health security. Furthermore, he cited the International Telecommunication Union’s resolution, which likewise condemned Iran’s illegal interventions and activities, as well as cyberattacks targeting telecommunications infrastructure and the security of neighboring countries’ networks, constituting a violation of the international rules governing this vital sector.

Ambassador Al-Hin reiterated his full solidarity and unified stance with Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan in the face of aggression and terrorist threats, while condemning Iran’s direct role in supporting the Houthi militia with weapons, equipment, and military technology, which contributes to destabilizing the security and stability of the region and threatening regional peace and security.

He stressed that the security of GCC and sister Arab states constitutes an indivisible whole, and that any infringement on their security and stability amounts to a direct targeting of Gulf and Arab national security, necessitating a firm international stance that deters such aggression and puts an end to its continuation.

He expressed Kuwait’s and sister states’ resolve to continue and intensify diplomatic initiatives and joint legal efforts within the United Nations and specialized international organizations in Geneva to counter this aggression, calling on the international community, the Security Council, and all UN bodies to assume their legal, moral, and historical responsibilities and to take immediate action to halt these attacks and activate international accountability mechanisms, ensuring that perpetrators do not escape punishment.

He affirmed that Gulf and Arab solidarity would remain firm, and that shared destiny and unified positions would continue to be the foundation in confronting all threats to the security and stability of the region’s states and peoples, emphasizing Kuwait’s commitment to working with its brothers and international partners to defend international legitimacy and safeguard regional and international peace and security.
