Ministry of Commerce organizes joint inspection campaign in Jaleeb Al-Shuyoukh

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced on Wednesday that a joint inspection campaign conducted with several government agencies in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area resulted in the issuance of 227 seizure reports and eight closure orders against non-compliant establishments.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the ministry added that the campaign was carried out to enhance cooperation and coordination among relevant government entities, activate supervisory plans to monitor commercial activities, curb violations, and protect consumers.

The ministry clarified that the campaign took place from July 15 to 19, involving 100 commercial inspectors from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Field teams were deployed to ensure coverage of as many commercial sites as possible within the area.

It noted that the teams focused on commercial activities that had received complaints or were suspected of committing violations, as well as shops requiring periodic follow-up to verify compliance with applicable regulations and laws, and to take legal action against violators.

The ministry pointed out that the campaign identified the presence of several unlicensed commercial activities in the area, which were difficult to inspect due to inadequate infrastructure for business operations, the lack of clear automated address numbers, and the existence of old and dilapidated shops.
