Minister of Finance: Significant and exceptional increases in export support and stimulation allocations every year
Cairo – Nadeh Imam
Finance Minister Ahmed Kojok sent encouraging messages to the export sector, stating, “Exports are a priority, reflected in our policies, initiatives, and programs with our partners in the government and private sector. Every increase in export volume confirms the private sector’s capacity for growth, competition, and expansion in production and job creation. Together, we will make every effort to build a more competitive economy with more diversified and sustainable exports.”
He added that there have been significant and exceptional increases in export support and stimulation allocations each year to open new markets for our products. The current fiscal year’s budget included 48 billion Egyptian pounds to offset export burdens and support exporters, while export support reached 28 billion pounds in the 2025/2026 fiscal year, representing an annual growth rate of 55%.
He emphasized our commitment to stimulating goods and services exports and enhancing their competitiveness in global markets, noting that we continue to provide liquidity to the export sector by accelerating the payment process for exporters’ dues.
Addressing exporters, he said, “As promised, we have disbursed 12.6 billion pounds from the value of the 50% scheduled to be paid in cash to approximately 2,500 exporting companies within a single fiscal year. The first and second installments were paid during the 2025/2026 fiscal year, instead of being spread over two fiscal years. This indicates that stimulating exports tops the priorities of fiscal policy, as it is one of the pillars for enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy.”
Kojok added that it was originally planned to pay 50% of the outstanding dues owed to exporting companies at the Export Development Fund in cash over four consecutive fiscal years starting from 2025/2026. However, we managed to beat the scheduled timeline for these disbursements by paying two consecutive installments during the 2025/2026 fiscal year. He clarified that we have paid 70 billion pounds to exporters over six years, and we aim to complete the settlement of all arrears within two years.
Nevine Mansour, Minister’s Advisor for Economic Institutional Relations, stated that 5.3 billion pounds, representing the value of the first installment for 2,447 exporting companies, were disbursed during August and September of the previous fiscal year 2025/2026, and 7.3 billion pounds, representing the value of the second installment for 2,328 exporting companies, were disbursed by the end of the same fiscal year, bringing the total disbursed amount to 12.6 billion pounds during the previous fiscal year.
