Syrian-Egyptian talks to develop tourism cooperation and enhance partnerships

Syrian Tourism Minister Mazen Al-Salahani held talks with Mohamed El-Fiky, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Egyptian Embassy in Damascus, on prospects for developing tourism cooperation between the two countries, enhancing partnership in investment, empowering the private sector, and exchanging expertise.

The meeting, held yesterday, addressed opportunities to encourage joint tourism investments, reviewed several projects that could serve as models for cooperation between Syrian and Egyptian investors, and discussed mechanisms to support small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the tourism sector, enabling them to access markets and capitalize on opportunities available in both countries.

The two sides discussed enhancing the participation of tourism establishments and companies in specialized exhibitions and forums hosted by Syria and Egypt, which would contribute to expanding commercial partnerships, exchanging expertise, and opening new horizons for investors and entrepreneurs in the tourism sector.

Both sides praised the efficiency and professionalism of Syrians working in the food and hospitality sectors in Egypt, noting the added value they provide, which reflects Syrian expertise in this field. They emphasized the importance of building on these successes to broaden cooperation areas between private sector institutions in both countries.

Minister Al-Salahani affirmed that Syrian-Egyptian relations are rooted in deep historical and cultural ties, noting that the coming phase offers broad opportunities to build tourism and investment partnerships that deliver added value to both countries, stimulate investment flows, facilitate knowledge exchange, and strengthen the role of the private sector as a key partner in tourism development.
