Saudi Foreign Minister: Lasting stability is not achieved through military force, but through sustainable diplomatic solutions that address the root causes of crises

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan participated via video conference in the 16th edition of the Gulf Research Forum, held in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

In a speech conveyed by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Prince Faisal emphasized that the region is undergoing a pivotal phase that requires strengthening dialogue, diplomacy, and joint efforts to confront regional and international challenges. He stressed that lasting stability cannot be achieved through military force, but rather through sustainable diplomatic solutions that address the root causes of crises.

He pointed out that recent developments have demonstrated the impact of regional tensions on the international arena, with repercussions for global security, energy markets, and economic growth. He called for directing efforts toward preserving the international order based on rules and creating the necessary conditions to find political solutions that lead to lasting security and peace, rather than merely settling for temporary de-escalation.

The Saudi Foreign Minister noted that building a more stable regional system requires adherence to the fundamental principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter, foremost among them respecting state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and the principles of good neighborliness, as well as ensuring freedom of navigation and commitment to international law. He affirmed that these principles constitute the foundation of any stable regional system.

He stressed that the region possesses significant potential that qualifies it for a more prosperous future, expressing optimism about the possibility of overcoming current challenges. He pointed out that Saudi Vision 2030 is grounded in a firm belief that development, innovation, and providing opportunities represent the best path to achieving stability and avoiding conflicts.

Prince Faisal said that investing in this phase requires working to establish a more cooperative and stable regional system based on clear principles, mutual respect, and sustainable agreements that achieve peace, security, and prosperity for all.

He concluded his speech by highlighting the role played by academic forums, including the Gulf Research Forum, in deepening understanding and enhancing dialogue, and in exploring ideas that contribute to supporting policymakers and building a more stable, prosperous, and sustainable future for the region and the world.
