Qatar strongly condemns repeated Iranian attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, and the targeting of the Kuwaiti tanker 'Kivan'

The State of Qatar strongly condemned the renewed Iranian attacks on Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain, including the targeting of the Kuwaiti tanker “Kivan” as it transited the Strait of Hormuz. In a statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described these attacks as a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of these countries, a serious threat to the safety of navigation and global energy supplies, and a flagrant breach of international law, the UN Charter, and the principles of good neighborliness. The statement emphasized that the continuation of such attacks constitutes a dangerous escalation that would complicate efforts to contain tensions and undermine political and diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving security and stability in the region. It stressed the urgent need for an immediate and complete halt to all military actions and attacks threatening the region’s security and stability, and called for refraining from any measures that could widen the scope of escalation, while returning seriously to dialogue and negotiations and committing to the understandings reached through diplomatic efforts. Qatar reaffirmed its full solidarity with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Kuwait, and its support for all measures they take to safeguard their sovereignty and security.
