"The Supreme Council for Judicial Affairs: We stand behind our leadership and support efforts to defend Kuwait's gains and rights"

The Supreme Council of the Judiciary held a meeting presided over by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary and the Chief Justice of the Court of Cassation, Dr. Adel Bursali, with the attendance of council members and the Deputy Minister of Justice.

The Council began its session by condemning and denouncing Iranian attacks on Kuwait, affirming that the judicial authority, in its entirety, along with its staff and associates, stands firmly behind the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled. It expressed support for the government’s efforts under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah, Prime Minister, and the mobilization of all capabilities to defend Kuwait’s gains and rights. The Council prayed to Almighty God to protect the Armed Forces and their steadfast personnel, to have mercy on the martyrs, and to grant swift recovery to the injured and victims.

Regarding decisions, the Council approved the transfer of 14 counselors from the Court of Appeal to work at the Court of Cassation, effective October 1, 2026. It also approved the reconstitution of a five-member committee of counselors to oversee the written examinations and personal interviews for applicants seeking the position of “Junior Legal Researcher.”

Furthermore, the Council decided to open applications for appointment to the position of “Junior Legal Researcher” for both men and women, with a view to appointing them as Deputy Public Prosecutors (Grade C) among graduates of the 2025–2026 academic year. Applications will be accepted between November 1 and November 30, 2026.

The decisions also included the transfer of several Deputy Public Prosecutors to serve as judges at the Court of First Instance, effective October 1, 2026, along with their enrollment in a qualification course at the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies starting in September 2026. Additionally, several judges from the Court of First Instance and members of the Public Prosecution were promoted to higher grades, effective July 5, 2026.

The Council also decided to renew the secondment of certain judges to work at the Court of Cassation Prosecution for one year, effective October 1, 2026. It reviewed observations and complaints recorded during the visit by court presidents to the Courts Complex in Hawalli Governorate on July 15, 2026, and tasked the Deputy Minister of Justice with addressing these observations and complaints, and making every possible effort to facilitate matters for citizens, lawyers, and litigants.
