Iranian Attacks Renew... Pakistan Confirms Continuation of Mediation and Calls for Restraint
Iran renewed its continuous attacks, ongoing for more than 10 days, particularly targeting Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Jordan, aiming at civilian facilities and infrastructure, thereby endangering civilian lives. Meanwhile, Pakistan announced it is continuing its mediation efforts between the United States and Iran.
The General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force announced that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed several of Iran’s treacherous aerial attacks, accusing Iran of persisting in its systematic hostile approach through its heinous attacks targeting civilians in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The General Command stressed that the deliberate use of missiles and drones to target civilians and private property constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.
In the meantime, the Bahraini Ministry of the Interior announced the sounding of air raid sirens multiple times across the country, urging citizens and residents to remain calm, proceed to the nearest safe location, and follow news updates through official channels.
For his part, the Jordanian Armed Forces announced that its air defense systems intercepted and shot down three Iranian missiles targeting the Kingdom’s territory yesterday afternoon. A senior military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army – confirmed that the interception and downing operations resulted in no casualties or material damage.
The Jordanian Armed Forces also announced yesterday the neutralization of five Iranian drones, stating that it continues to monitor the Kingdom’s airspace and take necessary measures to deal with any aerial object threatening its security.
Meanwhile, the United States issued a warning urging American citizens worldwide to “exercise caution and vigilance” due to the war with Iran, according to a statement from the State Department. The statement noted that “given the escalating tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex, with the possibility of unexpected escalation.” It warned of an increased likelihood of attacks targeting U.S. diplomatic facilities “or sites associated with the United States and Americans worldwide.” The statement added that “Iran and its supporting groups may target other U.S. interests abroad or sites associated with the United States and American citizens in various parts of the world.”
Earlier, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced yesterday morning the completion of a new round of military strikes against Iran. In a statement on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, CENTCOM said: “U.S. forces targeted Iranian military command centers, naval capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems, with the aim of undermining Iran’s ability to continue attacking commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.” It added: “Commercial shipping continues to transit this vital international maritime corridor. Since the beginning of last May, U.S. Central Command forces have helped secure the passage of nearly 900 commercial vessels and facilitated the transport of 450 million barrels of crude oil.”
On the political front, Axios news reported, citing two regional sources familiar with mediation efforts, that Qatar, Egypt, Pakistan, and other regional mediators presented a new proposal to the United States and Iran for a 10-day ceasefire.
While U.S. officials stated that President Donald Trump’s administration is reviewing the mediators’ proposal, the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office announced that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni at the government headquarters yesterday.
The Pakistani Prime Minister stated: “We will continue our mediation role and remain committed to regional peace and stability,” expressing “concern over the escalation in the Gulf region and calling on all parties to exercise restraint and refrain from any action that undermines stability.”
During his meeting with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni on Tuesday, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged Washington and Tehran to exercise restraint, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to playing a mediating role between the two sides. Reports indicated that Momeni also met with General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistani Army.
