Death of Egyptian composer Hany Shenouda following a health crisis

Cairo - Kholoud Abu al-Majd: Samih Abdel Hamid, manager of the affairs of composer Hany Shenouda, announced his death at the age of 83 in a hospital following a sudden health crisis. The date and procedures for the funeral of the late composer have not yet been determined.

The late Hany Shenouda was born in Tanta, in the Gharbia Governorate. In 1977, he formed the band Al-Masrieen. He also discovered many singing stars, such as Iman Yunus (sister of artist Esraa Yunus), Mona Aziz, and Mamdouh Qasem. He was the first to present artist Mohamed Mounir in his first album, “Alamoni Ayniki,” and he discovered artist Amr Diab, bringing him from Port Said to Cairo.

He is considered the first to present Mohamed Mounir, having composed four songs for his first album, “Alamoni Ayniki,” and arranged the entire album. He also composed eight songs for Mounir’s second album, “Bintold,” and arranged the entire album.

Hany Shenouda also composed many beautiful songs for the legendary singer Nagwa El-Sagheera, such as “Bahlam Ma’ak” and “Ana Ba’ashq El-Bahr,” and for Faiza Ahmed, such as “Huda El-Layl.” He also arranged the songs for the albums “Dunya Jadeeda” and “‘ala Wash Al-Qamar.”

Furthermore, he composed the soundtracks for several Egyptian films, most notably “Al-Mushabbah,” “Al-Harif,” “Gharib fi Bayti,” “Al-Ghoul,” “Al-Osta El-Mudir,” and “Shaqat Al-Professor Aliwa.”

The late composer’s last contribution was the re-arrangement and presentation of the song “Bahlam Ma’ak,” originally performed by Nagwa El-Sagheera to his composition. Shenouda re-presented it with the voice of rapper Ziad Zaza and the new vocalist Tina, continuing his effort to revive classic songs that shaped the history of Arabic music, in an attempt to preserve this artistic heritage from oblivion and to re-release it in a manner consistent with the musical transformations of the era.
