"Oasis of Thought and Creativity" Resumes Its Programs at "Al-Wataniya"

After being postponed due to the current circumstances prevailing in the country and the region, the “Oasis of Thought and Creativity” program, organized by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, resumed its lectures at the Kuwait National Library the day before yesterday. The event was attended by Aisha Al-Mahmoud, Assistant Secretary-General for the Culture Sector. The program, which will continue until the 28th of the current month, features a distinguished group of academics and specialists in the fields of literature and philosophy.

The program offers a diverse array of lectures that open the doors of dialogue to those interested in cultural affairs. Its literature track covers topics such as literary criticism theories, transformations in the Arab novel, the relationship between historians and novelists, comparative literature, the publishing landscape, and the future of print books in the context of digital transformation. Meanwhile, the philosophy track addresses contemporary issues ranging from the ethics of modern science and an introduction to the philosophy of aesthetics, to the formation of the self in contemporary philosophy, culminating in modern philosophy. This reflects a rich intellectual diversity that keeps pace with the questions of the times and enriches intellectual discourse.

The program also included a mini-exhibition of publications from the journals “Alam al-Fikr” (World of Thought) and “Al-Thaqafa Al-‘Alamiya” (Global Culture), as well as special editions published by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters throughout the year, made accessible to everyone both inside and outside Kuwait.

A distinguished group of academics is participating in presenting the program, including Dr. Mursal Al-Ajmi, Prof. Altaf Al-Mutairi, Prof. Saleh Al-Ghazi, Dr. Razan Al-Murshed, Prof. Abdulrahman Al-Mani’ee, Dr. Mohamed Al-Sayed, Dr. Abdullah Al-Jasmi, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Awadi, and Dr. Al-Zawawi Bagoura. This initiative aims to promote serious culture and create a space for interaction among specialists, enthusiasts, and readers.

The return of the “Oasis of Thought and Creativity” after its postponement underscores the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters’ commitment to continuing its cultural mission and maintaining the Kuwait National Library as a forum for dialogue and knowledge. This contributes to revitalizing cultural activity and reinforcing the value of reading, research, and the exchange of ideas among various segments of society.
