25,000 traffic violations, 1,240 accidents, and 38 events and violators detained in a week
Field campaigns conducted by the Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector, represented by the General Directorate of Traffic and the General Directorate of Emergency Police, over the past week resulted in the issuance of approximately 25,000 traffic violations, the handling of 1,240 traffic accidents, and the apprehension of dozens of wanted individuals and violators. Additionally, more than 300 vehicles and motorcycles were referred to the impound lot for violating regulations and laws.
Statistics issued by the General Directorate of Traffic for the period from July 13 to 19, 2026, showed the apprehension of 29 individuals for committing serious traffic violations, who were subsequently referred to the Traffic Department. Nine juveniles were also referred to the Juvenile Court. Furthermore, 271 vehicles and four motorcycles were impounded, while the total number of traffic violations issued reached 23,567.
Regarding accidents, traffic officers handled 927 collision incidents and 164 accidents resulting in injuries. The remaining accidents were managed by Emergency Police officers, with specialized teams taking necessary measures, securing accident scenes, and regulating traffic flow to ensure smooth movement and mitigate the impact of the incidents.
On the security front, the campaigns led to the apprehension of one person suspected of possessing narcotics and another acting under abnormal conditions; both were referred to the General Directorate of Narcotics Control for legal action. Additionally, 35 individuals were apprehended for violating the Residency Law, and one person was caught without official identification. Thirty-six individuals and 26 vehicles who were wanted were also apprehended, with all cases referred to the relevant authorities to complete legal procedures.
Conversely, statistics from the General Directorate of Emergency Police for the period from July 12 to 18, 2026, showed the apprehension of 32 wanted individuals and 13 wanted vehicles. They also apprehended 16 individuals for violating the Residency Law, nine people acting under abnormal conditions, and five individuals without official identification. Emergency Police patrols managed to apprehend three suspects and referred them to the General Directorate of Narcotics Control for necessary legal action.
On the traffic front, Emergency Police patrols issued 1,115 traffic violations and impounded two vehicles for violating regulations, while also handling 149 reports of traffic accidents.
In the humanitarian sphere, Emergency Police officers provided 1,017 assistance services to citizens and residents, reflecting the social role played by security agencies alongside their duties in maintaining security and regulating traffic flow.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that the continuous campaigns reflect the Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector’s commitment to applying the law to everyone without exception, and enhancing security presence on various roads and areas, thereby contributing to reducing violations and dangerous behaviors and raising the level of road safety.
The Ministry of Interior called on drivers to adhere to traffic rules and regulations, observe speed limits, and avoid violations that endanger their lives and the lives of others, affirming that cooperation between security personnel and the community is the fundamental pillar for achieving safer and more disciplined roads.
