Bahrain and Jordan Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Developments

Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani held talks with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi on regional developments. The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Sunday that the call discussed the continuation of Iran’s culpable attacks on the Kingdom of Bahrain, Jordan, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which target infrastructure and vital facilities. These attacks were described as a serious escalation that threatens the lives and safety of civilians and constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817.

The two ministers also discussed the repercussions of Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz on freedom of maritime navigation and the global economy, as well as efforts to preserve regional security and stability. They exchanged views on enhancing cooperation and joint coordination during Bahrain’s membership in the UN Security Council, along with other topics and issues of mutual interest.

The close fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan were also discussed, as well as efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all fields for the benefit of both countries and their peoples.

In a related development, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held talks with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi on security developments in the region. The Turkish news agency Anadolu reported that sources in the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the discussion took place during a phone call between the two sides on Sunday, during which they addressed the regional security situation.
