Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Burj Alshaya renews its Green Key certification for 2026

Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Sharq Island announced the renewal of its Green Key certification for 2026, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to responsible hospitality and embedding sustainable practices into its daily operations and guest experiences. Martin Kipping, General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Sharq Island, received the certificate alongside members of the hotel’s planning committee during a visit by a Green Key delegation that included Mona Al-Razzaz Basij, Environmental Advisor and National Operator of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), Hiba Abbas, Chair of the Sustainability Committee at the Kuwait Water Authority (KWA), and Ibtisam Al-Mousa, Assistant to Mona Al-Razzaz Basij.

Speaking on the occasion, Martin Kipping said, “The renewal of the Green Key certification is a significant recognition of our sustained efforts and the collective teamwork behind our environmental commitments. Sustainability at Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait is not a separate aspect of the guest experience; it is an integral part of how we care for our surroundings, support our community, and contribute to shaping a more responsible future for the hospitality sector in Kuwait.”

The certification renewal followed a comprehensive evaluation of the hotel’s environmental management and operational practices, including energy and water conservation, waste reduction, promotion of responsible purchasing practices, and employee engagement in achieving environmental goals.

The hotel’s Engineering Department leads these initiatives with support from various departments, through a range of programs that include using artificial intelligence to manage food waste, an in-hotel water refill station, continued reduction of plastic use, energy and water consumption monitoring systems, and the provision of electric vehicle charging stations.
