Abdullah Qanais: The Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, referred a Gulf man in his thirties to the Public Prosecution on charges of intentional murder with premeditation and ambush. This followed an incident in which he shot an Arab expatriate inside the Halal Market in the Kabd area (also known as the B’areen Market), resulting in the victim’s death. The gunfire also caused the death of two camels.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspect admitted his motive for committing the crime stemmed from a prior dispute between his father and the victim during an auction at the Halal Market, which escalated into the victim assaulting his father. The suspect stated that he decided to avenge his father, went to the market armed with a Kalashnikov rifle, and fired several shots that struck the victim. Two bullets lodged in his body, and he died from his injuries before reaching the hospital.

A security source said the Ministry of Interior’s Operations Room received a report at around 6:00 PM the day before yesterday indicating that gunfire had erupted inside the Halal Market in the Kabd area. Security patrols and officers immediately responded to the scene, only to find that the injured man had been taken by his companions for medical treatment, while the shooter fled.

The source added that shortly afterward, another report was received confirming that the injured man had died from his wounds. The suspect then surrendered to the authorities and handed over the weapon used in the crime, an automatic Kalashnikov rifle.

The source noted that during interrogations, the suspect stated the weapon belonged to his father and was a relic from the Iraqi invasion, kept inside the family home. Competent authorities have continued their investigations before referring the suspect to the Public Prosecution to take legal action against him.
