Mona Shaddad Guest at the Casablanca Festival

The seventh edition of the Casablanca Arab Film Festival kicked off in Morocco and will run until the 24th. The edition features 29 films in the official competition, comprising 12 feature-length films and 17 short films. The festival honored Egyptian artist and director Samah Anwar and Moroccan director Ahmed Boulane at its opening ceremony in recognition of their artistic careers. Palestinian director Rashid Masharawi will chair the jury for the feature-length film competition, while artist Samah Anwar will chair the jury for the short film competition.

Al-Anbaa spoke with Mona Shaddad, who is attending the festival. She said, “I am delighted to have been invited to the seventh edition of the Casablanca Arab Film Festival by the festival’s management. I previously participated in the second and third editions as a guest from Kuwait, alongside more than 15 countries, with short and feature-length films from Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Egypt, Palestine, and the Sultanate of Oman. I am also very pleased to see the veteran artist Samah Anwar honored on the first day of the festival. I have met many Arab artists with whom I share good relations.”

She added, “Personally, I love the atmosphere of film festivals in all countries, as they elevate the arts. I would like to thank the organizers of the Casablanca Arab Film Festival for their excellent arrangements, and I specifically thank Fatima Al-Nawali, president of the Casablanca Arab Film Festival, for her warm hospitality.”

Regarding her latest projects, she said, “I am preparing for a new television series with writer Fajr Al-Sa’eed, titled ‘Love and War,’ directed by Ghafl Fadhil, as well as a new program on Kuwait Television.”
