UAE: Targeting infrastructure and civilian facilities in the region is unacceptable and unjustifiable under any circumstances

The United Arab Emirates expressed deep concern over the developments in the region over the past few days, calling for an immediate halt to escalation and for no steps to be taken that could exacerbate tensions and instability in the region.

The UAE also urged maximum restraint to avoid serious repercussions and to prevent the region from sliding into new levels of violence and instability.

The UAE stressed the need for an immediate cessation of all hostile acts and an immediate return to the negotiating table, emphasizing the importance of ensuring freedom, safety, and continuity of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, as it is vital to the global economy.

It affirmed that targeting civilian infrastructure and facilities in the region, including schools, universities, hospitals, water desalination plants, energy facilities, transport hubs, and residential areas, constitutes a blatant and grave violation of the established principles and provisions of international law, and cannot be accepted or justified under any circumstances.
