Spanish national team cancels training session in New Jersey due to rain and thunderstorm

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced on Saturday the cancellation of Spain’s final training session ahead of tomorrow’s World Cup final against Argentina, due to thunderstorms. FIFA added that there would be no further time for the team to train, but did not specify whether Argentina’s training session, scheduled for 11:30 local time (15:30 GMT), would proceed as planned. The Spanish Football Federation said in a statement: “The Spanish national team’s training session at the Melvin J. Egan Training Center in New Jersey has been suspended in accordance with the United States’ storm safety protocols.” It added that players are currently conducting an indoor warm-up session. The final match will kick off at 15:00 local time (19:00 GMT) tomorrow.
