Iran continued its heinous and treacherous attacks on the State of Kuwait in a highly dangerous escalation that threatens to complicate efforts to contain tensions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s strongest condemnation and denunciation of the heinous Iranian aggression that targeted the country’s territory, hitting two power and water desalination plants, facilities belonging to the oil sector, and several critical infrastructure sites, resulting in fires and causing severe damage to vital installations, civil facilities, and residential buildings.
In a statement, the ministry emphasized that the repeated targeting of these critical facilities reveals a systematic aggressive approach aimed at civilian objects and essential infrastructure, endangering the lives and safety of civilians. It held Iran fully responsible for this brutal aggression and its repercussions, calling on Iran to immediately cease its attacks.
On the ground, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Saud Al-Atwan, announced that the Armed Forces had detected hostile ballistic missiles and drones within Kuwaiti airspace since dawn on Saturday, and that they were intercepted and neutralized.
In response to the widespread condemnation, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Al-Budaiwi stated that Iran’s actions constitute a highly dangerous escalation, a serious violation of international law and the UN Charter, and war crimes that warrant accountability and international sanctions.
