Public Works obtains approvals to tender the Special Education Schools Complex in Al-Aqila

The Ministry of Public Works has obtained approval from the Central Tenders Committee to launch a tender for the construction, completion, supply, maintenance, and furnishing of the Al-Uqayla Special Education Schools Complex.

Sources told “Al-Anbaa” that the project represents one of the key initiatives included in the ministry’s plan, aiming to provide a comprehensive educational complex that supports the Ministry of Education in delivering specialized educational and rehabilitative services for persons with disabilities, in accordance with the latest standards. This will contribute to developing the educational environment for this group and enhancing the quality of services provided to them.

The sources clarified that the complex will include schools for boys and girls serving six main categories: autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, physical disability, intellectual disability, hearing impairment, and visual impairment. It will also feature specialized facilities for rehabilitation and speech therapy treatment, buildings for physical therapy equipped with swimming pools and sports fields, alongside a fully integrated administrative building serving all project facilities.

The project will be built on an area of approximately 100,000 square meters southwest of the Al-Fintas Commercial Center, with implementation expected to take four years. Its total estimated cost is around KD 149.029 million.

The sources noted that the Al-Uqayla Complex is part of a plan to establish three specialized educational complexes for special education in the Al-Uqayla, Jahra, and Hawalli areas, aiming to accommodate the growing needs of persons with disabilities and provide modern, specialized educational facilities that contribute to improving educational and rehabilitative services and enhancing efforts toward social integration.
