Public Works Authority Tenders Saad Al-Abdullah Road – Umghara to Aligned Traffic Congestion and Connects Al-Jahra to the Sixth Ring Road

Watef Ramadan The Ministry of Public Works is moving to launch a new strategic project as part of its plan for the 2026-2027 financial year, aimed at constructing a dual carriageway linking the city of Saad Al-Abdullah to the Umghara Industrial Area, extending to the Al-Jahra Expressway and the Sixth Ring Road. This initiative seeks to enhance traffic flow and establish a new axis serving both residential and industrial zones.

Sources told Al-Anba that the works include the design, construction, completion, and maintenance of a main road, alongside the implementation of three new secondary roads equipped with full infrastructure and service elements. This will provide additional access points and exits for Saad Al-Abdullah city, increasing the capacity of the regional road network in tandem with the steady rise in population and daily traffic volume.

The project holds particular significance as it connects two areas with distinct land-use profiles: the residential city of Saad Al-Abdullah and the industrial Umghara area. This necessitates the construction of a road capable of accommodating diverse traffic, including light and heavy vehicles, according to modern engineering standards, thereby enhancing traffic safety levels and operational efficiency.

Sources highlighted that the project addresses existing challenges on the current route, primarily the low level of service, insufficient traffic regulation, and incomplete infrastructure and services. These factors have contributed to increased traffic pressure amid urban expansion and growing activity in the area.

The project is expected to serve as a vital contributor to the development of the local road network, support urban expansion in surrounding areas, and strengthen connectivity between major axes. This will help mitigate traffic congestion and ensure smoother traffic movement between Saad Al-Abdullah city, the Umghara Industrial Area, and the Al-Jahra Expressway and Sixth Ring Road.

The Ministry of Public Works has set the contract execution period at 18 months, as part of its strategy to develop infrastructure and improve road network efficiency, keeping pace with urban and population growth across various regions of Kuwait.
