“Sin”.. A suspenseful psychological drama on Dubai TV

Mohaf Al-Shammari: Writer and director Mohamed Anwar has completed filming all scenes of his new series “Dhunn” (Sin), moving the production into the editing phase in preparation for its broadcast in November on Dubai TV as part of the original productions of the Dubai Media Incorporated.

The series offers a psychological dramatic experience set in the 1980s, evoking the social and visual atmosphere of that era within a suspenseful narrative that breaks away from the conventional molds of prevailing dramatic works, both in form and content.

“Dhunn” relies on psychological suspense, withholding its secrets from the outset and allowing viewers to piece together the threads of the plot gradually as the 10-episode series unfolds. The dramatic structure maintains an element of mystery until the very end.

The story revolves around the family of Musab and Rahil, whose seemingly stable life is turned upside down by a mysterious event. This triggers the revelation of buried secrets and human and psychological conflicts that alter the fate of all family members. With each episode, viewers find themselves at the heart of the incident, uncovering new details that lead them step by step to the truth.

Although the incident serves as the starting point of the plot, the series allocates greater space to the human and psychological dimensions. The characters’ motivations and internal conflicts become the primary drivers of the narrative, with a dramatic treatment that focuses more on the complexities of the human psyche than on the details of the crime itself.

“Dhunn” is distinguished by a cinematic visual style that employs an escalating rhythm and a modern directorial language. The use of camera work, lighting, and color highlights the tension and emotions experienced by the characters, aligning with the psychological nature of the work.

Comprising only 10 episodes, the series maintains a fast-paced rhythm, avoiding unnecessary padding or prolongation. The creators have ensured that the episodes feel like a single, continuous chapter, with events escalating gradually toward a decisive climax.

The work is written and directed by Mohamed Anwar, whose experience blends psychological drama and crime within a contemporary visual framework. It is produced through a joint effort between Drama Action and Full Frame companies, under the general supervision of Yousef Al-Ghaith.

The series stars an elite group of artists, led by Hassan Al-Balawi, who portrays a role different from what audiences are accustomed to, alongside Hanadi Al-Kandari, Maram Al-Balushi, Abdulmohsen Al-Qaffas, Sara Salah, Ahmed Al-Najjar, Ghurour Saffar, Alaa Hassan, Fahd Al-Salameh, as well as broadcaster Ali Najm and others.
