Ministry of Islamic Affairs Participates in the National “Save” Campaign to Rationalize Electricity and Water Consumption

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced on Friday its participation in the national “Wafar” campaign for conserving energy and water, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, as part of cooperation and integration among government entities and to enhance awareness of the rational use of electricity and water.

Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. M. S. Al-Suwailim, told KUNA that the ministry’s participation in the campaign included disseminating awareness messages through the ministry’s media platforms, as well as through Friday sermons that highlighted the importance of conservation and explained the Islamic teachings encouraging it.

Al-Suwailim emphasized that the ministry has taken conservation measures by using energy-saving lighting, turning off water heaters during the summer, and ensuring that lights and electrical appliances in unused rooms associated with mosques are switched off.

He added that prayers in mosques with low attendance and good ventilation are confined to the designated rear section, while exterior mosque lights are turned on at the time of the Maghrib (sunset) call to prayer and switched off half an hour after the Isha (night) prayer, and also at the time of the first Fajr (dawn) call to prayer, being turned off half an hour after the Fajr prayer is performed. Additionally, water-saving aerators have been installed on approved ablution faucets.
