In Video: Justice Minister to Law Faculty Graduates: Uphold the Values of Integrity and Trustworthiness

Under the patronage and presence of Minister of Justice, Advisor Nasser Al-Sameet, the College of Law celebrated the graduation of 330 students from the 2022-2026 cohort, held in the Arena Hall at the 360 Mall complex.

In a speech delivered on this occasion, Al-Sameet congratulated the College of Law graduates, emphasizing that this achievement was the fruit of years of diligence and hard work, and wishing them success and prosperity in their academic and professional lives. He stated that graduation does not mark the end of an academic stage, but rather the beginning of a new path with diverse options and trajectories. He noted that among the graduates are those who will assume judicial positions, others who will carry the message of the legal profession, some who will pursue higher studies, and others who may move into fields not directly related to law. However, he stressed that legal knowledge will remain a distinguishing mark, empowering them to think clearly and make sound decisions.

Al-Sameet urged the graduates to uphold honesty and adhere to the values of integrity and trustworthiness in all their future professional roles. He emphasized that law is not merely text to be memorized, but a behavior practiced and a principle translated into reality. He highlighted that Kuwait is entering an exceptional phase that requires its sons and daughters to demonstrate greater awareness and responsibility, as the state strives to develop and modernize its legislative framework to keep pace with changes and enhance the efficiency of its institutions. He pointed out that the graduates constitute a fundamental part of this phase, bringing with them knowledge, ambition, and the ability to contribute to building a more just and stable future.

Concluding his speech, Al-Sameet expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the faculty members, affirming that, after God Almighty, they deserve credit for the knowledge and qualifications the graduates have achieved. He also extended his greetings to parents for their support and encouragement of their sons and daughters in reaching this distinguished milestone.

**A Harvest of Joint Effort**

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Al-Khader, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at the College of Law, Kuwait University, offered his highest congratulations to the graduates and their families. He affirmed that graduation day represents the fruit of years of diligence and perseverance, and the harvest of joint efforts between students and their parents, who played a significant role in their success journey.

In his speech, Al-Khader stated that obtaining a law degree is not merely acquiring an academic qualification, but carrying a great trust. He explained that law is the scale of justice by which state affairs are rectified, rights are protected, and societies find peace. He noted that graduates transition from classrooms to the fields of work, where opportunities in the judiciary, legal practice, public prosecution, legal opinions, legislation, and other positions of responsibility await them. He stressed that success in these fields is only achieved by those who combine solid knowledge, integrity of conscience, and high moral standards.

Al-Khader urged the graduates to view their graduation certificate as a starting point rather than a final destination, encouraging them to continue seeking knowledge and staying informed. He reminded them that Kuwait places its hopes on them to be the best servants of justice, upholders of the rule of law, and contributors to the nation’s progress and elevation.

On her part, the first female graduate, Aswaq Al-Suwaid, affirmed that law is a noble message, a responsibility, a trust, and a code of honor, obliging the College of Law graduates to make justice a principle and national service a goal in their professional careers.

Speaking on behalf of the male and female graduates during the ceremony, Al-Suwaid expressed her joy and honor at standing as a representative of her peers from this prestigious academic institution, conveying feelings of pride and admiration for this achievement, which was the result of years of effort and perseverance. She added that graduates feel the greatness of the blessing of knowledge bestowed upon them by God, and they take pride in their excellence. She emphasized that graduation certificates embody years of diligent work and reflect the competence of an ambitious generation that believes in the value of knowledge and the importance of law in establishing justice and serving society.

She expressed her sincere thanks and appreciation to the faculty members, noting that the greatest legacy graduates carry with them after graduation is the knowledge, values, and sense of responsibility instilled in them by their professors. Al-Suwaid also directed her thanks and gratitude to parents, affirming that they were the true support and backing for their sons and daughters throughout all stages of study, and that words cannot fully repay the support and sacrifices they provided.

For his part, the first male graduate, Mohammed Al-Rakeebi, affirmed that law is a noble message before it is a profession, and that the rule of law is the cornerstone upon which prosperous societies are built. He stressed that the College of Law graduates bear the responsibility of utilizing their knowledge to uphold truth and serve the nation.

Speaking on behalf of his fellow graduates, Al-Rakeebi stated that this day represents the culmination of a journey of knowledge and perseverance, and the harvest of years filled with contribution and ambition, expressing his gratitude to God for reaching this goal. He added that their journey at the College of Law was not merely academic years, but a field that sharpened minds and solidified values. He noted that they learned that justice is a value before it is a platform, and that law is a message before it is a profession. He remarked that a word can vindicate the oppressed, and that fair judgments contribute to building nations.

He clarified that graduates are turning the page on years of diligence and hard work, carrying not just an academic degree, but a pledge to use their knowledge as a tool to uphold truth, elevate justice, and serve Kuwait with utmost sincerity and integrity.

For his part, the representative of male and female graduates, Ali Al-Maqasid, affirmed that the College of Law at Kuwait University continues its role in preparing legal cadres that form the backbone of state institutions. He praised the efforts to develop the legislative system and Kuwaitize the judiciary to enhance reliance on national competencies.

Al-Maqasid stated that this day marks the closing of a chapter in life where diligence and hard work were constant companions, and a moment to reap the fruits of years of perseverance, while bidding farewell to a phase rich with experiences, memories, and the knowledge acquired by students throughout their years of study.

He added that the College of Law is a prestigious academic institution that continues to supply the job market with legal competencies, affirming that the College’s graduates form the true nerve center of state facilities and institutions.

Al-Maqasid appreciated the efforts led by the Minister of Justice in implementing what he described as the first "legislative revolution" of its kind in Kuwait, aimed at developing the legal system to contribute to the country’s renaissance.

The Father… The Crinkled Face The ceremony’s most touching human moment, which captured everyone’s attention, occurred when Acting Judge of the Court of Appeal, Counselor Mohammed Al-Duwaikh, ascended the awards stage, to the surprise of all, to honor his graduating daughter, Afaf Al-Duwaikh, in a moment where feelings of pride and joy intertwined.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, graduate Afaf Al-Duwaikh told “Al-Anbaa” that she was aware of her father’s presence at the event, but was taken aback when he climbed onto the stage to present her with her graduation award alongside several of her peers, noting that he had kept this surprise from her until that very moment.

She added that her father had been her greatest supporter throughout her years of study, expressing her heartfelt gratitude to him and her mother, as well as to the College of Law’s administration and faculty members for the support and guidance they provided until her graduation.

She expressed her great joy at completing her university journey after years of hard work and diligence, affirming her eagerness to begin her professional career in a role that contributes to serving the country and realizing her ambitions.
