Iran's heinous aggression targets vital and civilian facilities and infrastructure, endangering civilian lives

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s condemnation and strongest denunciation of the culpable Iranian aggression that targeted the country’s territory on Saturday morning, hitting another power and desalination plant, oil sector facilities, and several critical infrastructure sites. This attack caused fires and inflicted serious damage on vital installations, civil facilities, and residential buildings.

In a statement, the Ministry emphasized that the repeated targeting of these critical facilities reveals a systematic aggressive approach aimed at civilian objects and essential infrastructure, endangering the lives and safety of civilians in a blatant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the UN Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817. It held Iran fully responsible for this brutal aggression and its repercussions, calling on it to immediately cease its attacks.

The Ministry stressed that Kuwait reserves its full right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its security and defend its territory and vital installations against any aggression or threat, based on its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and international law.

The Ministry also expressed Kuwait’s strongest condemnation and denunciation of the culpable Iranian aggression by missiles and drones that targeted the country on Friday, hitting a power and desalination plant, resulting in a fire and damage to several electricity generation units. In a statement, the Foreign Ministry affirmed that this constitutes a blatant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, and a serious breach of international law, international humanitarian law, the UN Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.

It emphasized that the continuation of this aggressive approach represents a highly dangerous escalation threatening regional security and stability, a blatant challenge to international legitimacy, and an undermining of efforts to de-escalate tensions and achieve peaceful solutions. It reaffirmed Kuwait’s inherent right to take necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability in accordance with international law.

The Ministry further expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the culpable Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in blatant violation of their sovereignty and territorial integrity and posing a direct threat to the security of their peoples and residents. In a statement, the Foreign Ministry affirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with these sister states, standing by their side and supporting all measures they take to address the repercussions of these attacks and safeguard their security and stability.

Foreign Minister Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber held a telephone conversation with Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. In a statement, the Foreign Ministry noted that the call discussed the latest developments in the region, particularly the current escalation and its repercussions, and the efforts underway to de-escalate tensions, enhance diplomatic solutions, and contribute to maintaining regional security and stability.

On the ground, Colonel Saud Al-Atwan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, announced that the Armed Forces had detected hostile ballistic missiles and drones within Kuwaiti airspace since dawn on Saturday, which were intercepted and neutralized.

In a statement to the Ministry of Defense, Al-Atwan said the culpable Iranian aggression continued to target several military and security installations alongside vital and civilian facilities. The attacks hit facilities belonging to the oil, electricity, and water sectors, causing fires and serious damage to several infrastructure sites. He noted that relevant authorities began firefighting and repair operations, resulting in injuries to several members of the General Fireforce and oil sector workers while carrying out their duties. They are receiving medical care and necessary treatment.

He clarified that debris from intercepting hostile attacks fell in several locations and residential areas, causing material damage without any recorded human casualties, praise be to God. He emphasized that the Armed Forces continue to carry out their duties with high efficiency within the framework of continuous readiness and permanent preparedness, taking all necessary measures to protect the nation’s sovereignty, security, and stability in coordination with relevant authorities to safeguard the safety of citizens and residents.

Colonel Saud Al-Atwan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, also announced that the Armed Forces had detected hostile ballistic missiles and drones within Kuwaiti airspace on Friday, which were intercepted and neutralized.

In a press statement, Colonel Al-Atwan added that the culpable Iranian aggression targeted several Kuwaiti Army installations and camps with hostile drones, resulting in injuries to several members of the Kuwaiti Land Force while executing their duties. The injured received medical care and necessary treatment, and their health conditions are stable.

He continued that several vital and civilian facilities were targeted, including a power and desalination plant, causing a fire and damage to several plant facilities and electricity generation units. Debris also fell in several locations across the country, causing material damage without any recorded human casualties.

Colonel Al-Atwan stressed that the Armed Forces continue to perform their duties with high efficiency within the framework of continuous readiness and permanent preparedness, taking all necessary measures to protect the nation’s sovereignty, security, and stability in coordination with relevant authorities to safeguard the safety of citizens and residents.

Meanwhile, the General Fireforce announced that several firefighters and one worker were injured while combating fires ignited by the culpable Iranian attacks.

Major General Mohammed Al-Gharib, spokesperson for the General Fireforce, announced that firefighting teams managed to control two fires that broke out in two different locations in the country following hostile attacks resulting from the culpable Iranian aggression. Five firefighting teams participated in the first site, supported by teams from the oil sector, while three teams participated in the second site.

Major General Al-Gharib explained that firefighting teams immediately began firefighting and containment operations upon arrival. The incident at the first site resulted in injuries to several firefighters and one oil sector worker due to the site being targeted again during firefighting efforts. First aid was administered, and they were transferred to medical emergency services and then to hospitals for treatment.

He added that General Fireforce teams also responded to three separate fires caused by debris falling in several residential areas, managing to control and extinguish them. The damage was limited to material losses with no recorded human casualties.

Earlier, Major General Mohammed Al-Gharib, spokesperson for the General Fireforce, announced that firefighting teams managed to control two fires that broke out in two different locations in southern Kuwait on Friday, following hostile attacks by the culpable Iranian aggression targeting the country.

In a press statement, Major General Al-Gharib said six firefighting teams, supported by teams from the Kuwaiti Army and National Guard, participated in the first site, while three teams participated in the second site. He explained that firefighting teams immediately began handling the fires upon arrival, successfully containing them. He confirmed no human casualties were recorded, and losses were limited to material damage.
