Social Solidarity participates in implementing the comprehensive national plan for managing the street animals file
Cairo – Hanaa El-Sayed: In implementation of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s directives to enhance integration among various state institutions, and in activation of decisions issued by the Joint Coordination Conference, the Egyptian Military Academy hosted a meeting attended by several ministers, the Commander of the Egyptian Military Academy, representatives from the Ministries of Social Solidarity, Justice, and Housing, the Ambassador and Coordinator of the National Green Projects Initiative, the Chief Veterinary Surgeon, and members of all relevant entities, as well as state security, supervisory, and sovereign agencies. The meeting aimed to put an end to arbitrary practices and unify state efforts in the vital file concerning the veterinary sector, given its repercussions and its role in raising public awareness across all issues related to the sector.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity announced its participation in implementing the comprehensive national plan for managing the issue of street animals and resolutely countering all rumors related to them, as part of a unified strategy aimed at safeguarding citizens’ health and environmental security.
The ministry emphasized that the National Union for the Welfare of Animals is registered with the Central Unit for Associations and Civil Society Work, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 149 of 2019 on the Regulation of Civil Society Work, and meets all required conditions. It cooperates with the state in implementing plans pertaining to the veterinary sector and various animals, most notably street animals.
The National Union for the Welfare of Animals comprises a group of civil society associations in Egypt. The union acts as a partner to the state, with the goal of protecting animals. Vaccination and immunization procedures for street animals are carried out by the National Union for the Welfare of Animals and its member associations.
The ministry clarified that the National Union for the Welfare of Animals is subject to oversight, similar to other associations and civil society institutions. Any financial transactions are subject to monitoring and follow-up.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity called upon institutions and civil society associations working in the field of animal welfare to strictly adhere to the regulations and instructions issued by the veterinary sector. It reaffirmed its commitment to combating any violations or practices aimed at misleading public opinion or causing disorder in Egyptian streets.
