Minister of Social Affairs: Safety of Persons with Disabilities is a Top Priority
Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood, conducted an inspection visit to the Al-Sabahiyah Center for Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, under the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities, as part of efforts to monitor the repercussions of recent security developments, ensure the safety of residents and staff, and verify the center’s readiness and contingency plans.
During the visit, the Minister reviewed the conditions of the residents, inspected various facilities, and assessed the level of health and social care provided. She also monitored the readiness of shelters, evacuation and emergency plans, and implemented precautionary measures to ensure the highest levels of protection and safety for residents and staff. Dr. Al-Huwail emphasized that the safety of persons with disabilities is a top priority, and that the Ministry and the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities are continuously monitoring all care centers around the clock to ensure their readiness and efficient service delivery. She stressed the importance of regularly reviewing emergency plans and enhancing preparedness to address any new developments.
She expressed confidence in the safety of all residents and staff, commending the center’s readiness and the commitment observed in implementing emergency plans and precautionary measures. She praised the efforts of the center’s management, as well as medical, technical, and administrative staff, for their continuous work in providing comprehensive care and maintaining stability within the center.
The Minister concluded her visit by reaffirming the continuation of field inspections and direct monitoring of all care centers and facilities under the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities, along with ongoing coordination with relevant authorities to enhance readiness, ensure the continuous provision of care and protection services to beneficiaries, and safeguard their safety under all circumstances.
