"Education Development by Ministers" Launches Academic and Vocational Guidance Tests for Preparatory and Secondary School Students

As part of its ongoing efforts to support students and empower them to make more informed educational and career decisions, the Education Development Fund, under the Office of the Prime Minister, announced the launch of academic and career guidance and counseling tests for preparatory and secondary school students and graduates, across all types of secondary education, in both Arabic and English.
The tests aim to help students discover their abilities, interests, and academic inclinations, and to recommend educational pathways that best align with each student’s nature and personality, thereby enhancing their prospects for future academic and professional success. The tests incorporate the latest approved educational pathways, including the Egyptian Baccalaureate and the Technological Baccalaureate, alongside various majors available at universities and higher education institutions. This approach keeps pace with developments in Egypt’s education system and provides students with a comprehensive perspective to help them choose their educational future based on precise scientific foundations.
In this context, Dr. Rasha Saad Sharaf, Secretary-General of the Education Development Fund, emphasized that the launch of these tests stems from the Fund’s vision of building an integrated system to support students before they make pivotal decisions regarding their academic futures. She noted that choosing the right academic major depends not only on grade totals but also on the student’s abilities, interests, and personal readiness.
In a press statement, she added that the Fund is leveraging the latest scientific tools in academic and career measurement and guidance to promote alignment between students and their chosen educational pathways. This, in turn, positively impacts the quality of the educational process and strengthens the preparation of qualified human resources capable of meeting labor market needs and sustainable development requirements.
For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Salama, Director of the Egyptian Center for Tests, one of the Education Development Fund’s projects, explained that the center relied on several internationally recognized scales in academic and career guidance and counseling, developed in collaboration with a group of experts and specialists in measurement, evaluation, and career counseling, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the results.
He noted that students receive immediate results upon completing the test, and both the student and their legal guardian receive a detailed report via the registered email address. The report includes a comprehensive analysis of the student’s abilities, interests, and personality traits, along with recommendations for schools, colleges, and educational pathways that suit their personality and potential, helping them make a well-considered educational decision.
Salama affirmed that these tests represent an effective tool for reducing educational waste and preventing the frustration that students and their families may experience when enrolling in majors that do not align with their abilities or interests. They also contribute to lowering dropout and failure rates associated with learning difficulties stemming from poor educational pathway choices, thereby supporting a more successful and stable educational journey for every student.
