New Israeli incursion into the villages of Abadeen and Ma'ariteh in western Daraa countryside

Israeli occupation forces carried out two new incursions on Friday in the countryside of western Daraa Governorate, southern Syria. The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that a force belonging to the occupation entered the village of Abidin in the western countryside of the governorate, following residents’ closure of main roads with stones in protest against Israeli military movements in the area. It stated that a force comprising four military vehicles and a bulldozer entered the village and removed stones blocking the road leading to the Al-Arida area, where occupation forces frequently establish a temporary checkpoint, coinciding with the firing of bullets toward civilian homes in the area. It clarified that an Israeli drone dropped a bomb near a group of residents who were attempting to block the Ma’arib Abidin road with stones, without resulting in injuries or material damage. It noted that the occupation force departed from the Jazirah barracks located on the outskirts of Ma’arib village, which it has occupied since late 2024 and which constitutes its only base in Daraa Governorate. The village of Ma’arib in the western countryside of Daraa also witnessed movements by Israeli occupation forces, as three military vehicles accompanied by an engineering vehicle (TEREX) moved around the village before withdrawing after about 20 minutes. Approximately two hours later, four military vehicles rapidly entered the area, coinciding with the flight of drones in the skies; the vehicles reached the Al-Arida road before withdrawing without stopping. These movements coincided with the sound of gunfire in the air, with no recorded clashes with residents or arrests. This incursion comes days after a force belonging to the Israeli occupation army arrested a young man at a temporary checkpoint it established in the village of Al-Mu’allaqa in the southern countryside of Quneitra.
