Diving team recovers sunken boat in East Marina

The Kuwaiti diving team at the Environmental Volunteer Foundation succeeded in salvaging a sunken boat in the “East Marina” area, in cooperation and joint coordination with the relevant official authorities.

Team leader Waleed Al-Fadl told KUNA that this urgent operation was launched in response to a report of the boat’s sinking, noting that the team handled the incident with high efficiency and in accordance with the highest safety and security standards. He explained that the operation was carried out in collaboration with the East Marina administration. Al-Fadl added that the objective of the operation was to prevent marine pollution and stop the leakage of fuel, oils, and harmful chemicals from the boat, thereby protecting wildlife and coral reefs and ensuring safe navigation.

He emphasized that this initiative embodies the team’s national mission to safeguard the marine environment and represents a new link in a series of major projects undertaken by the team, reinforcing strategic partnerships with government and private institutions to protect aquatic resources.

He noted that the team’s record is rich with a long history of service since its establishment in 1986; it has never hesitated to extend a helping hand to boat and yacht owners in recovering their marine property in the event of sinking. The team has successfully carried out hundreds of specialized operations and has salvaged more than 830 boats and yachts from 1991 to the present.

Al-Fadl called on boat and yacht owners and sea visitors to exercise caution due to the hot weather conditions currently experienced in the country, as well as to perform regular maintenance and ensure the safety of electrical wiring and engines to avoid sudden breakdowns and protect property.
