The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s strongest condemnation and rejection of the culpable Iranian aggression by missiles and drones that targeted Kuwaiti territory today, Friday, July 17, 2026, striking one of the country’s power and water desalination stations. The attack resulted in a fire and caused damage to several electricity generation units, in a blatant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, and a grave breach of international law, international humanitarian law, the United Nations Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026).
The Ministry emphasized that the continuation of this aggressive approach constitutes a highly dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability, represents a blatant challenge to international legitimacy, and undermines efforts aimed at de-escalation and the achievement of peaceful solutions.
The Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s inherent right to take the necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty and preserve its security and stability, in accordance with the provisions of international law.
