Electricity Authority: One of the power plants and water desalination facilities was targeted in a heinous Iranian attack, resulting in damage to the plant's facilities and a fire.

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced that, as a result of the unjust Iranian aggression against the State of Kuwait, one of the country’s power and desalination plants was attacked, causing damage to its facilities, igniting a fire, and severely damaging a large number of power generation units. This necessitated the activation of emergency plans and immediate response measures to mitigate the incident’s impact and preserve the stability of the electrical grid.

Firefighting teams from the General Fire Force immediately responded to the incident, successfully containing and extinguishing the fire. Meanwhile, technical and emergency teams affiliated with the Ministry, in coordination with relevant authorities, implemented necessary technical and precautionary measures to assess the damage, secure the plant, and restore the affected units to service as quickly as possible, while adhering to the highest safety standards.

The Ministry emphasized that technical teams are working around the clock to maintain the stability of the electrical grid and ensure uninterrupted service, continuously monitoring grid performance indicators and taking all necessary measures to minimize any potential impact on the system.

The Ministry urges citizens and residents to cooperate during this exceptional phase by conserving electricity, as this has a direct impact on supporting the stability of the national electrical grid, enabling technical teams to manage the system efficiently, and ensuring continuous service across the country. The Ministry reaffirms that public awareness and cooperation under these circumstances constitute an integral part of the national efforts to address the repercussions of this aggression, and that every contribution to conserving electricity enhances the grid’s capacity to navigate this phase and supports repair and rehabilitation efforts for damaged facilities as swiftly as possible.
