White House: Iranian regime divided, part of it supports reaching a deal

The White House affirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump will not allow Iran to fire on ships in the Strait of Hormuz without facing consequences, while emphasizing that the strait remains open to ships not bound for or departing from Iran. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told reporters during a press briefing that the Iranian regime is divided, with some factions supporting the conclusion of a deal, noting that Tehran continues talks with the United States and desires to strike a deal. She pointed out that President Trump is always open to diplomatic solutions, as he believes in achieving peace through strength. She clarified that recent strikes on Iran were due to its violation of a memorandum of understanding, adding: “President Trump has proven to the world that we can strike Iran at any time and in any place.” Leavitt stated that the positions of President Trump and his vice president, Vance, are aligned on Iran. On another note, Leavitt added that President Trump will attend the World Cup final scheduled for next Sunday, noting that he will first travel to New York City on Friday to attend a reception hosted by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) at Trump Tower on Saturday.
