"State Security Court Resumes: Refusal to Punish Defendant, Bail Set at 2,000 Dinars for Accusation of Inciting Panic During Wartime"

The State Security Crimes Department at the Court of Appeal upheld a ruling acquitting a Kuwaiti national of charges related to broadcasting inflammatory propaganda and inciting public panic during wartime, following his posting of a video via the Snapchat app that showed footage of Kuwait International Airport during Iran’s despicable aggression against the country. The court also upheld the decision to refrain from punishing the defendant, while ordering him to provide a bail of 2,000 Kuwaiti dinars for good behavior for two years, and confiscating his mobile phone, in relation to charges of harming the country’s national interests, disseminating the video in question, and misusing a mobile communication device. In another case, the court acquitted a citizen of charges of insulting a Gulf state via the TikTok app. It also upheld the decision to refrain from punishing other defendants in a case involving sympathy for Iran’s despicable aggression and inciting sectarian strife through social media platforms.
