Ministry of Health Launches Second Phase of Internet and Video Game Addiction Treatment Clinics

Cairo – Nadeh Imam: The Ministry of Health and Population announced the launch of the second phase of specialized clinics for the treatment of internet and electronic gaming addiction, as part of the initiative to treat electronic gaming addiction under the umbrella of the presidential initiative “Your Health is Happiness,” aimed at enhancing mental health.

Dr. Hussam Abdel-Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, clarified that the second phase involves launching the service at four new hospitals: the Egypt New City Hospital for Addiction Treatment in Cairo, Benha Mental Health Hospital in Qalyubia, Shibin El Kom Mental Health Hospital in Menofia, and Sohag Mental Health Hospital in Sohag. With this expansion, the total number of hospitals providing the service has risen to 10, following the success of the first phase at Al-Abbassia, Al-Khanka, Al-Mamoura, Dumaira, Minya, and Asyut hospitals, thereby broadening coverage to include additional governorates and diverse age groups.
