Global Auction to Support Education with $100 Million.. Featuring the Final and Opening Match Jerseys of Kuwait's National Teams and Artists' Items

In a move that blends sports and charity, the American auction house Christie’s is preparing to launch an online auction featuring a distinguished collection of memorabilia from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with proceeds directed toward educational initiatives targeting children worldwide. According to the French news agency (AFP), the auction will begin on July 22 and run for a full week, as part of the “FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund” initiative, which aims to raise $100 million.
Among the most prominent items on offer is a ball that will be used in the World Cup final scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, alongside a ball from the opening match held in Mexico. The auction also includes attire associated with the artist Shakira, including outfits she wore in the music video for the official World Cup song, as well as the ensemble she will wear during the halftime show at the tournament final, which will feature several artists. Additionally, the collection features the 2022 Argentina national team jersey signed by Lionel Messi, and a United States national team jersey bearing the signatures of its players, a combination that merges sporting value with humanitarian impact.
