Kuwait condemns the reprehensible Iranian attack on two Emirati oil tankers and Houthi attacks on southern Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the reprehensible Iranian attack that targeted two Emirati oil tankers while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in the death of one crew member and injuries to several others. This act constitutes a blatant violation of international law, United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, and poses a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and global energy supplies.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Ministry affirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with and support for the sisterly United Arab Emirates, backing all measures it takes to safeguard its security and national assets. It stressed the urgent need to immediately halt all escalatory actions and to comply with international law provisions that guarantee freedom of navigation and transit passage through straits used for international navigation, thereby preserving the security and stability of the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also strongly condemned and denounced the attacks carried out by the Houthi militia using ballistic missiles against the southern region of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These attacks represent a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as breaches of international law and international humanitarian law, and constitute an escalation that undermines regional security and stability.

The Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its steadfast support, and its backing of all measures undertaken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty, protect its security and stability, and ensure the safety of its people and residents on its territory.
