Omani Maritime Security: 3 Oil Tankers Targeted Off the Coast of the Sultanate

The Omani Maritime Security Center announced on Tuesday that three oil tankers flying the Liberian flag were targeted in separate incidents off the Omani coast, affirming its continuous monitoring of the situation’s developments and the implementation of necessary measures in coordination with the relevant authorities.

In a statement, the center said that the oil tanker “Al Bahiyah,” owned by Al Bahiyah Inc. and based in the United Arab Emirates, which flies the Liberian flag, was targeted 9.6 nautical miles off the coast of Musandam Governorate.

It added that a vessel of the Royal Navy of Oman is monitoring the situation’s developments, confirming the evacuation of 18 crew members via maritime assets near the incident site, while three crew members remain missing.

In a separate statement, the center announced that the oil tanker “Mombasa B,” also flying the Liberian flag, was targeted, resulting in the loss of its engines, 8.5 nautical miles off the coast of Musandam.

It clarified that a Royal Navy of Oman vessel is monitoring the situation, confirming that the evacuation of the 21-member crew, including six individuals with varying injuries, was carried out via maritime assets near the incident site.

The center also announced that the oil tanker “Stolt Magnesium,” flying the Liberian flag, was targeted, causing a fire in the engine room, 40 nautical miles off the coast of Al Sharqiyah South Governorate and outside Omani territorial waters.

The center stated that it continues to monitor the situation and take necessary measures, including providing emergency supplies to the vessel, and confirmed that the evacuation of the 23-member crew was carried out via a nearby maritime asset, with all crew members in good health.
