In Video: Criminal Investigation Department Arrests Two Syrian Brothers for Robbing a Gold Shop

Abdullah Qanais: Confirming the exclusive report published by Al-Anbaa on its website Monday evening, the Ministry of Interior announced Tuesday morning that the Criminal Security Sector arrested two Syrian nationals suspected of carrying out an armed robbery at a jewelry store in Jleeb Al-Shoukh, and recovered stolen goods valued at 39,000 dinars.

A security source told Al-Anbaa that the suspects are brothers who hid the stolen items after committing the crime in the Seventh Ring Road area and later revealed their location.

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior said: “As part of the continuous security efforts undertaken by the Criminal Security Sector to combat crime and track down perpetrators, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, represented by the Criminal Investigations Department of Al-Farwaniya Governorate, uncovered the circumstances of an armed robbery targeting a jewelry store in the Jleeb Al-Shoukh area. The suspects were arrested and all stolen items were recovered.

“The statement detailed that the case began with a report of an armed robbery at a jewelry store in Jleeb Al-Shoukh. Specialized security teams responded to the scene, examined the site, collected evidence, and reviewed surveillance camera footage, which showed two individuals committing the crime using a fake pistol and a knife before seizing gold jewelry and mobile phones totaling approximately 39,000 dinars.

“Intensive investigations led to identifying the suspects, who are Syrian nationals. It emerged that one of them was wanted for an arrest warrant related to the expiration of his residency. Investigations also revealed that they stole a vehicle and used it to commit the crime, before setting it ablaze in Jleeb Al-Shoukh in an attempt to obscure the crime scene and destroy evidence.

“The Ministry added: ‘After completing search and investigative operations, detectives arrested the suspects. Security teams also recovered all the stolen items. When confronted with the findings of the investigations and evidence, the suspects confessed to committing the offense. The complainant identified the seized items and confirmed they belonged to the store where the theft occurred.

“The Ministry of Interior emphasized that the necessary legal measures have been taken against the suspects, who have been referred, along with the seized items, to the competent authorities to complete legal procedures. It reaffirmed its continued pursuit of anyone attempting to undermine national security and societal safety, stating that security forces remain vigilant against anyone attempting to commit criminal acts, and that no one will escape legal accountability.

“Al-Anbaa had previously reported in its issue published last Sunday that the suspects carried out the crime at around 8 a.m., with one wearing the clothing of a veiled woman and the other using a mask to conceal his face. A security source also suggested that the suspects were arrested quickly, citing the expertise of the Criminal Security Sector and the presence of surveillance cameras across the country that facilitated their apprehension.”
