Customs, Chamber of Commerce, and car dealers discuss enhancing procedures and strengthening the business environment

The Committee for Monitoring the Improvement of the Business Environment and Enhancing Competitiveness, under the General Administration of Customs, held a coordination meeting with the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Union of Car Dealers, chaired by the Director General of Customs, Yousef Al-Nuwaif, to discuss ways to develop customs procedures and strengthen partnerships with the private sector, thereby supporting Kuwait’s competitiveness in the Cross-Border Trade Index.

The General Administration of Customs emphasized during the meeting its commitment to continuing the development of the customs system by simplifying procedures, accelerating the release of goods, expanding electronic services, and enhancing integration with government entities, all of which aim to reduce time and costs for the business community.

Deputy Director General for Ports Affairs and Customs Research and Investigation, Saleh Al-Omar, clarified that the pre-clearance project is among the most prominent strategic initiatives, as it enables the processing of data before the arrival of shipments, contributing to reducing clearance times and accelerating trade flows.

The meeting also featured a review of digital transformation initiatives and discussions on the key challenges facing the automotive sector and importers. Representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and the Union of Car Dealers commended the Customs Authority’s efforts in developing services and simplifying procedures, stressing the importance of continued coordination to enhance the business environment and support the national economy.
