Officers from the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation successfully closed the case of the armed robbery of a jewelry store in the Jleeb area, which occurred on Thursday morning, after arresting two Syrian nationals, one in Jleeb and the other in Hawalli, and recovering the full amount of stolen gold jewelry in their possession.

A security source told Al-Anbaa that the suspects used a plastic gun (a toy weapon) to commit the crime, noting that the vehicle used in the robbery had been stolen less than two weeks prior. The perpetrators also installed two different stolen license plates on the front and rear of the vehicle in an attempt to conceal its identity and mislead security forces.

The source added that the suspects carried out the robbery at around 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, threatening and handcuffing the worker inside the jewelry store before seizing a quantity of gold items, including bracelets, chains, necklaces, and other pieces, after which they fled.

He pointed out that intensive inquiries conducted by criminal investigation officers, based on evidence documented by surveillance cameras and technical evidence, led to the identification and arrest of the suspects within a very short time. The two suspects confessed to the crime and guided security forces to the location where they had hidden the stolen goods and the weapon in a barren area, where they were recovered. The suspects and the evidence were handed over to the competent authorities to complete legal procedures.
