America once again besieges Iran
US President Donald Trump announced the reimposition of a naval blockade on Iran, amid renewed attacks that targeted Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan once again yesterday. At a time when The New York Times reported it had obtained a letter revealing that Trump formally notified Congress of the resumption of combat operations in Iran, the US president posted on his Truth Social account: “We are reimposing the ‘Iranian blockade’—a term used because it restricts only Iranian vessels or agents of Iran from entering or exiting—while all other countries will retain the right to fair and open use of the strait.”
In parallel, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its forces successfully struck a submarine and ship maintenance facility in Iran using a series of one-way attack surface drones. The command confirmed that three “Corsair” unmanned surface vehicles hit the port located at the Bandar Abbas naval base, marking the first use of unmanned maritime vehicles in combat operations.
For its part, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its strongest condemnation and denunciation of the heinous aggression launched by Iran and its affiliated factions and militias in the Republic of Iraq against Kuwait, through attacks targeting several border centers and an offshore drilling platform owned by Kuwait Oil Company.
In a statement, the ministry reaffirmed that the continued aggression by Iran and its proxies in Iraq constitutes a blatant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and a serious threat to the security and safety of Kuwaiti citizens and residents in the country. It also described the actions as a blatant challenge to international legitimacy and to UN Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026, and as an irresponsible undermining of regional and international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region.
The ministry further expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the ongoing attacks targeting the Kuwaiti Consulate General in the city of Basra, calling them an unacceptable violation of the inviolability of consular premises and a undermining of the Iraqi government’s efforts to fulfill its international obligations. The Foreign Ministry noted that “despite the efforts made by the Iraqi government to try to counter these attacks, the ministry stresses the need for the Iraqi government to take immediate and decisive measures to hold all those involved in these hostile acts accountable and ensure they are not repeated.”
For its part, the General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force stated that Iran “continues its systematic hostile approach through its heinous missile and drone attacks targeting civilians.” In a statement, it announced that air defense systems intercepted, thwarted, and destroyed several of Iran’s treacherous aerial attacks early yesterday.
Meanwhile, a Jordanian military source confirmed that air defense systems intercepted and shot down four missiles launched from Iranian territory, with no casualties or material damage reported. The source emphasized that any attempt to infringe upon the sovereignty of the Hashemite Kingdom or violate its airspace would be met with firmness.
