Qatar Embassy Opens Book of Condolences for the Death of the Amir Emeritus Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.. Condolences: He Leaves a Legacy Rich in Giving and Achievements in the Journey of Development and Progress

The Embassy of the State of Qatar in the country opened a book of condolences yesterday morning following the passing of the late Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. The opening was attended by the Qatari Ambassador, Ali bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, along with a large number of ambassadors, diplomatic representatives, and public figures.

Several participants offered statements after recording their condolences in the book. Bahrain’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Salah Al-Maliki, stated that the passing of the late Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on him, represents a significant loss for the sisterly State of Qatar, as well as for the Arab and Islamic nations. He highlighted the late Amir’s rich legacy of generosity and achievements, his substantial contributions to serving his country, people, and nation, and his role in consolidating Qatar’s regional and international standing.

Ambassador Al-Maliki conveyed the condolences of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, and the entire people of the Kingdom of Bahrain. He expressed sincere condolences to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, to the esteemed Al Thani family, and to the government and people of the sisterly State of Qatar.

Al-Maliki noted that the late Amir was a wise leader with a clear vision who dedicated his life to serving his country, his nation, and humanity. He contributed to achieving comprehensive development in Qatar, leaving a national and humanitarian legacy that will stand as a testament to a journey filled with achievements and generosity. He added that the ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Qatar extend beyond neighborly relations to include deep familial bonds, blood ties, kinship, and a shared destiny. This makes this tragic loss deeply felt in Bahrain, where everyone shares in the grief with their brothers in Qatar and the pain that envelops every Qatari household in this great calamity, stemming from the profound fraternal and historical ties linking the two countries and their peoples.

Ambassador Al-Maliki concluded his statement by praying to God Almighty to envelop the deceased in His vast mercy, grant him a spacious place in Paradise, and reward him abundantly for his contributions to his country and people. He also prayed that God inspire His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the esteemed family, and the brotherly Qatari people with patience and solace, and that He continue to bestow upon the State of Qatar the blessings of security, stability, and prosperity. Indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive to supplication.

For his part, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharousi, Oman’s Ambassador to Kuwait, affirmed that the late Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, was among the most prominent leaders who contributed to the development of the State of Qatar. He played a pivotal role in supporting the progress of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and enhancing joint Gulf efforts.

Speaking after offering condolences and signing the book, Ambassador Al-Kharousi said, “We extend our sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies for the loss of our common deceased, the deceased of Qatar and the GCC states, and the deceased of the Arab and Islamic nations, His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on him.” He emphasized that the late leader left a significant legacy in supporting development progress and Gulf cooperation.

**European Union**

For her part, the European Union Ambassador to Kuwait, Anne Goossens, expressed sincere condolences and sympathies to the government and people of the State of Qatar on the passing of the late Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, by God’s leave.

Ms. Goossens stated that EU-Qatar relations are characterized by strength and closeness, emphasizing the EU’s high respect for the deceased, who was known for his moderate voice in the region. Mr. Butler stated that Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani was a visionary leader who contributed to shaping the Qatar known to the world today, emphasizing that his passing represents a major loss. He added that his relationship with the deceased had a personal dimension, noting that his first diplomatic posting was in the Qatari capital, Doha, where he had the honor of meeting the late Amir several times during that period. For her part, Turkey’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Topaz Nour Sunmez, affirmed that relations between Turkey and Qatar represent a unique model of strategic partnership and firm brotherhood between the two countries. She noted that His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani played the most prominent role in consolidating these relations and elevating them to unprecedented levels.

Ambassador Sunmez stated that the late Amir holds a special place in the hearts of the Turkish people and leadership due to his significant efforts in strengthening bilateral relations.
