Head of the GCC Emergency Committee: Committed to Expanding International Cooperation to Enhance the Security and Safety of GCC Member States

The Director General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Emergency Management Center, Brigadier General Dr. Rashid Al-Mari, affirmed the center’s commitment to broadening cooperation with various regional and international partners and leveraging global expertise and experiences to support the development of emergency and crisis management systems, enhance the security and safety of GCC member states, and safeguard their developmental gains.

Speaking to KUNA after receiving Belgium’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Christian Domaz, Al-Mari stated that the center continues to strengthen its partnerships with diplomatic missions, international organizations, and entities to contribute to the development of readiness and response systems, as well as the exchange of expertise and best practices in emergency and crisis management.

He added that the center serves as the specialized Gulf arm for early warning, monitoring of risks and threats with regional implications for GCC states, and operates around the clock to track developments, analyze them, and provide information and assessments to support decision-makers and relevant authorities, thereby enhancing response speed and raising levels of joint Gulf readiness.

He outlined the center’s key mandates, including its monitoring and early warning systems, the central operations room, and mechanisms for information exchange and joint coordination among member states, as well as Gulf initiatives and projects aimed at capacity building, developing response plans, and conducting joint exercises to strengthen integration among GCC states in facing various emergencies and crises.
