Al-Hawila: Awareness of the dangers of drugs is a shared national responsibility requiring the concerted efforts of all

Sultan Al-Abdani: Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, emphasized the importance of continuing joint national efforts to combat the scourge of drugs, expressing her hope that the “A Nation That Protects You” campaign would evolve into an annual initiative reaching every home, school, and institution, thereby strengthening a culture of prevention and safeguarding future generations. This statement came during her attendance at the seminar “A Conscious Society... and a Secure Future,” organized by the Ministry of Social Affairs as part of the comprehensive national awareness campaign against drugs under the slogan “A Nation That Protects You.”

Dr. Al-Huwail stated that the “A Nation That Protects You” campaign embodied a distinctive national model of cooperation and integration among government entities, the private sector, civil society organizations, and media outlets. She stressed that awareness-raising is not the responsibility of a single entity, but rather a shared national duty requiring the concerted efforts of all stakeholders. She added that the Ministry looks forward to the campaign’s continuation on an annual basis and its expansion in programs and activities, so that prevention becomes an integral part of society and awareness of the importance of protecting youth from the dangers of addiction is firmly entrenched.

Dr. Al-Huwail concluded by reaffirming that sustained partnership and cooperation among various entities constitute the fundamental pillar for protecting society and building a more aware and secure future for coming generations. She addressed families whose children face addiction problems, urging them to deal with them with awareness and compassion, free from fear or social stigma. She emphasized that treatment is available through safe and confidential channels provided by the state to offer support and help them reintegrate into normal life.
